Trespassing - the moral grey area

Previously I wrote that trespassing is a grey area for me; and I believe it is worthy of it's own post. I approach the issue as a Kender would approach a shiny bauble. Kender's are natural trespassers (amongst other things, thieving being chief). Incidentially, the heart of the Dragon Lance series is in Lake Geneva, where I have trespassed upon a yard or two back in the day, but then everybody's yard was just a way to getting where I was goin'.

For example, the Girl Scout Camp in West Bend (Washington Cty) is a very, very grey area for me, and the signs there are irritatingly unavoidable. It just so happens that the Ice Age trail runs right around it and I don't like traveling the same path back, plus the trails are just so interesting that I just cannot help myself.

Trespassing involves some strategy and an prior arrangement with god. One part of the agreement is that I leave no trace of my presence; the other is that if I am confronted (caught), rather than trying to act my way out of it I am better to just admit a mistake and leave.

Great Places for Trespassing

Churches. I have a weakness for Churches. There, I said it. Churches have lots of nooks and crannies and places where people don't go unless they're snooping. Even though I am much much older today, I still look for hidden corners just as I used to try and find secret passageways cleverly hidden in old wood paneling.

Cemeteries. Not all cemeteries are marked and sometimes there are trespassing signs. If there are appealing aspects to it then try and stop me.

Retreat Centers. I have gone to a few retreats and the best part is exploring the grounds. Most places have a certain 'feel' about it, however new-agey that may sound I believe there is an element of truth to it.

This is Ridge Run County Park in West Bend - and it is very much like Hobbs Woods in my opinion.

There is an path to the neighboring Girl Scout Camp right off the trail along the creek where these signs sit.

Now that the ice age trail portion of this park is completed, you have freer access to the GS Camp, but parts are still considered a trespassing point.

Thank you for posting!
